Beyonce joined Rich Eisen and Deion Sanders on "Super Bowl Live" to talk about what fans can expect from her halftime performance this Sunday in New Orleans.

The singer said she had studied previous halftime performers like Madonna, Michael Jackson and Prince in preparation for her performance. She hinted that she might have a guest or two join her during the show.

NFL Star Adrian Peterson Donates $1 Million to his Alma Mata

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has pledged $1 million to the Oklahoma athletics department, his launching pad for a stellar NFL career.
The university announced the donation Thursday. It will go toward construction of a new student housing facility and establish a football scholarship endowment in Peterson’s name.
The university says this is the largest gift to the athletics department from a former football player. Peterson says he’s been thinking about doing this “for a long time” and that he always hoped to be in a position to give back once he left school.
Peterson starred for the Sooners from 2004 through 2006 before the Vikings made him the seventh overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft.
The football team’s meeting room will also be renamed in Peterson’s honor.

Considering that he just got a $100 million contract last year.

Dallas Cowboys Jay Ratliff’s grandparents die in traggic house fire

Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Jay Ratliff will miss practice Wednesday and Thursday to attend the funeral of his grandparents, who died in a tragic house fire last week in Hahira, Ga.

Arletha Ratliff, 74, died while trying to save her disabled husband, Willie, 84, during an early evening house fire Sept. 15, as firefighters tried to save the couple, according to published reports.

Authorities said Willie Ratliff, a double amputee, was in a hospital bed. Firefighters’ efforts to get inside the house to save the couple were prevented by the intense fire, smoke and extreme temperatures.

“They found my grandparents and my grandmother was, I guess, holding my grandfather,” Ratliff said, according to KRLD-FM in Dallas. “She climbed back in bed, like if they can’t get him out, she’s not leaving him.”

The cause of death was smoke inhalation.

“It just took awhile to get in and locate them, and by that time they passed away,” Hahira Fire Chief Dwight Bennett told WALB-TV.

Willie Ratliff was a World War II veteran, and Arletha Ratliff a hospital aide.

“Knowing they was in the house, you know, and they couldn’t get to them, and get ‘em out,” Lemodis Lawrence, the couple’s nephew, told WCTV-TV. “Just the thought of it really hurts me.”

Authorities determined the fire was caused by an electrical shortage in a washing machine.

Jay Ratliff, who graduated from Lowndes High School in Valdosta, knew of the deaths before the Cowboys’ game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The two-time Pro Bowler finished with two tackles in the 27-20 loss.

Ratliff will fly to Georgia for the funeral on Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones’ private jet.

“That goes a long way with my family. He doesn’t know how much I appreciate that. That means a lot to me,” Ratliff said.

Ratliff also said of his teammates: “They’ve really been incredible in this time. Just all the support, cards, the pats on the back, letting me know I’m not alone.”

Denver Broncos wide receiver Kenny McKinley was found dead from an apparent suicide, according to multiple reports in the the Denver area. The Denver Post reports that the 23-year-old receiver was found dead Monday afternoon. According to the paper, he had just had a young son.

McKinley was dubbed as the greatest wide receiver to play at the University of South Carolina.

The second-year professional was placed on injured reserve during his rookie year. He was a fifth round draft pick during the 2009 NFL Draft and attended college at South Carolina.

Broncos president and CEO Pat Bowlen said, "Everyone with the Broncos is shocked and saddened by the loss of Kenny McKinley. He was part of the Broncos' family and will be greatly missed by our organization. My most heartfelt condolences go out to Kenny's family and friends."

Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels added, "Kenny had a promising future on the football field, but more importantly, he was a great teammate whose smile and personality could light up the room. This is a tragic loss for our football team, and his family is in all of our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Ines Sainz claims she was Harrassed at the New York JETS mini camp

She posted on her twitter account the picture of what she was wearing when she went to visit the Jets.



The NFL is looking into how a female television reporter was treated at New York Jets practice Saturday.

Ines Sainz, is a reporter for Mexican TV station Azteca and she was down at Jets camp doing a story on quarterback Mark Sanchez who is of Mexican heritage, she claims she had footballs thrown in her direction by a Jets coach during practice, and players later called out to her in the team's locker room.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Sunday that the league and the Jets began looking into the situation when they were made aware of it Saturday night.


Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum called Joanne Gerstner, a board member of the Association for Women in Sports Media, on Sunday to discuss the matter. The two organizations were working to schedule an educational and awareness session with the team, according to Jets spokesman Bruce Speight.

Speight added that he also addressed the situation at the team meeting Sunday in advance of New York's season opener against Baltimore on Monday night at the New Meadowlands Stadium.

Earlier Sunday, the Jets issued a statement, saying owner Woody Johnson spoke to Sainz on Sunday to discuss the incident.

"He stressed to Ines that he expects all members of the Jets organization to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times," the statement said.

Glen Coffee's stunning retirement Friday sparked a lot of speculation as to the reason -- including guesses that Coffee had failed a drug test or been involved in a spat with 49ers coach Mike Singletary. Turns out, the truth is much less sinister: Saturday, Coffee told Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee that he's headed back to school to complete his undergraduate degree and pursue a master's degree, a decision rooted in his deep religious beliefs.

"Actually when I look back I feel I never should have entered the draft in the first place," said Coffee, who left the University of Alabama after his junior year. "Football was no longer my dream. I found Christ in college. It changed my views on everything. But I still was a football player because it was expected of me, it was something I did all my life. I was basically wasting the [49ers'] time."

"His will, I felt, wasn't football. I felt like I forced football because everyone expected me to play football. He told me a long time ago to walk away from the game."


The 23-year-old's discussion with Barrows seemingly squashed the possibility that he'd go back on his retirement announcement.

"I've already told Christ it's time to go. I've already rung the bell. That's not going to happen," Coffee told Barrows.
