'Dead' Man Woke Up During Own Funeral In Zimbabwe

Mourners at a recent funeral in Zimbabwe were caught by surprise when the guest of honor sat up in his coffin.

According to local reports, 34-year-old Brighton Dama Zanthe, the seemingly dead man, woke up last week while friends and family prepared to pay their respects at his home in Gweru.

"I was the first to notice Mr. Zanthe’s moving legs as I was in the queue to view his body. At first I could not believe my eyes but later realized that there was indeed some movements on the body as other mourners retreated in disbelief," Lot Gaka, one of the mourners and Zanthe's employer, told The Herald.

Fortunately, Zanthe woke up just in time; his body was set to be transported to a funeral parlor later that day. After Zanthe "resurrected" he was taken to a local hospital, where he remained on life support for two days before eventually being released.

Bodies springing back to life is, perhaps surprisingly, not an uncommon occurrence in Zimbabwe. Earlier this year, a woman, who was believed to have collapsed and died during sex, woke up screaming after she was placed into a coffin.

In another "resurrection" in 2012, a Zimbabwe woman, suspected of being possessed, was rushed to a hospital after she stabbed herself and was allegedly declared dead, the Chronicle reports. However, she did not stay "dead" for long, as she "rose" shortly after.

Victoria Falls Bungee Jumping Accident

A New Year's Eve thrill-seeker had the shock of her life last week during a bungee jump at Victoria Falls bridge. 22-year-old Erin Langworthy leapt off the 111-meter bridge attached to a bungee cord, the Sydney Morning Herald reports, however she did not spring back up as planned. Amazingly, her gut-churning fall was captured on tape on the video above. The harrowing moment after the cord snapped, sending Ms. Langworthy plummeting into the crocodile-infested waters of the Zambezi River, onlookers standing on the bridge could be heard gasping and swearing. According to the Associated Press, Langworthy swam to the Zimbabwe bank. When she was pulled from the water, the young woman began coughing up water and blood. Miraculously, Ms. Langworthy escaped with her life after spending a week in hospital in South Africa. According to ABC, she only suffered from bruises and a fractured collar bone.

Lil Kim Rocks Zimbabwe's First Zarfest Concert

Lil Kim made Rocked out in Zimbabwe as she took the stage at the inaugural Zarfest in the capital city of Harare.

Kim rocked the crowd with some of her classic hits before paying homage to Notorious B.I.G. and Michael Jackson. The Queen Bee performed "One More Chance" and "Juicy" followed by Billie Jean to close out her set.

Ciara and DJ Scratch also performed at the event, while Timbaland was a no show.

A video message from Timbo was played for the disappointed crowd, explaining that he wouldn't be able to make it due to unforseen difficulties that were out of his control.

The four day music festival now moves on to South Africa for shows in Durban (June 1), Cape Town (June 2) and Johannesburg (June 3).

Zimbabwean NYASHA new face of Louis Vuitton takes on The World

A Zimbabwean-born, British-raised sixteen-year-old model has been chosen as one of the new faces of Louis Vuitton, starring in the maison's fall/winter advertising campaign.


Discovered only last year, fresh-faced Nyasha Matonhodze has already starred in a handful of magazine editorials, including some big-name magazines such as Teen Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, and has walked in dozens of runway shows.


Upon learning that she had been selected as one of the stars of the upcoming Vuitton campaign, Nyasha told the Telegraph, "My eyes filled up with tears and I thought 'Lord you are lucky!'
It didn't actually hit me until I was sat in a Rolls Royce sitting eye-to-eye with [famed fashion photographer Stephen] Meisel."



She previously told The Cut, "If you're not strong-minded, modeling can knock your confidence quite harshly.
Every day you're judged on your look, and more so today you're judged on your personality. With that said, a lot of us are 15 or 16 years old, so some girls could really take the criticism personally. What we have to understand is that there's not something wrong with us per se, we just aren't a right fit with the client."


This rising star certainly has a promising career ahead of her, as evidenced by her breathtaking Vuitton ad and fierce runway walk.
