JAY-Z LAUNCHES ROC NATION SPORTS

Jay-Z is expanding his empire with the launch of Roc Nation Sports, a full-service sports management company.

According to the New York Post, Roc Nation Sports will be led by the hip-hop mogul with Juan Perez serving as president. They have partnered with CAA Sports, a division of Creative Artists Agency, and signed New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano as their first client.

“Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years,” said Jay-Z.

Cano is a member of the Yankees’ 2009 World Series championship team, a four-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and two-time Gold Glove Award winner.

“At this point in my career, I am ready to take a more active role in my endeavors both on and off the field,” said Cano. “I am confident that the pairing of Roc Nation Sports and CAA Sports will be essential in helping me accomplish my short- and long-term goals. I am making this important decision now so I can keep my focus on helping the Yankees succeed in 2013, while minimizing any distractions for me and my teammates.”

Jay-Z’s Roc Nation is home to music superstars including Rihanna, J. Cole, Shakira, Kylie
Minogue, and Timbaland.

PEYTON MANNING RELEASED WOW

Possibly the greatest all round QB of all time released by the Colts.

Check out the Story as released by NFL

The ending that most anticipated between the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning will arrive on Wednesday, according to league sources, when the team is expected to release the four-time NFL MVP.

The team has made preliminary plans for the news conference Wednesday to officially announce the move.

The Colts are awaiting the final word from owner Jim Irsay, who has been out of town at meetings, but the expectation is they will go forward with the release and the press conference.

The move has been widely expected, as the rebuilding Colts owe Manning, the first overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, a $28 million bonus if he is on the team's roster at the start of the league year. Manning will become a free agent immediately.

As far back as late January, Manning, 35, said he had no plans to retire after missing the entire 2011 season following four procedures to repair two vertebrae in his neck. His most recent surgery on Sept. 9, a cervical neck fusion procedure, was intended to repair a damaged nerve in Manning's neck that caused weakness in his throwing arm.

Those close to Manning have maintained his desire to continue his career despite concerns that nerves in his arm had not been healing and were prohibiting his throwing. Manning has been throwing since December, and four sources with knowledge of his rehab process recently told NFL Network's Albert Breer that Manning has steadily has regained strength in his grip and triceps.

Irsay had publicly stated in February that the team would welcome Manning back, but only on a restructured contract that reflected the uncertainty of the quarterback's recovery.

The Colts hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, and Irsay has said the team would draft a quarterback whether or not Manning was healthy.

“We are thrilled to announce we are expecting our first child together,” they tell PEOPLE exclusively. “It’s an amazing time in our life and we can’t wait to meet the new addition to our growing family.”

Tim Tebow 250 K Bonus

The Denver Broncos’ victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday turned into a nice payoff for quarterback Tim Tebow in more ways than one. Tebow has an escalator of $250,000 in his contract for each playoff victory assuming he participated in at least 70 percent of Denver’s plays during the requisite season, according to an NFL source. Being that he played 73 percent of Denver’s plays this season, Tebow cashed in on a quarter-million salary escalator for Sunday’s 29-23 overtime victory and could earn another $250,000 with another victory Saturday night at New England against the Patriots in a divisional-round game. Denver’s victory, meanwhile, altered offensive coordinator Mike McCoy’s immediate itinerary. McCoy was scheduled to interview in Jacksonville on Monday for the Jaguars’ head coaching job if Denver had lost Sunday, according to an NFL source. The interview will have to be rescheduled. McCoy is allowed to talk with the Jaguars this week, but it will be challenging with the Broncos’ short week of preparation for Saturday’s game.

Bills Bench Stevie Johnson After T-Shirt Touch Down Celebration

Buffalo Bills receiver Stevie Johnson isn’t the first person to get a little carried away ringing in the new year. He just picked the wrong place for his celebration.
Bills coach Chan Gailey benched Johnson for drawing an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Sunday when he celebrated a touchdown catch by lifting his jersey to reveal an undershirt

The Bills added another TD before New England scored the next 49 points to win 49-21.
“The coach told me I was out of the game. I have to respect his decision,” said Johnson, who had four catches for 40 yards to become the first Bills receiver with consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. “I can’t complain about it or whine or pout. He made his decision and I am going with it. … I have to take that, and I will.”
Undershirt decoration has become something of a hobby for Johnson, who wore one against Cincinnati last season that said, “Why So Serious?” The NFL fined him $5,000, but he was not penalized; that’s why Johnson said he thought he could get away with it this time.
“I didn’t know it was going to draw a penalty,” he told reporters.
Johnson was also fined $10,000 for pretending to shoot off a rifle against the Patriots last year, mocking the costumed Minutemen who celebrate a New England score. And he drew an excessive celebration penalty against the Jets this season when he pretended to shoot himself in the legs — mimicking New York receiver Plaxico Burress – then imitated an airplane crashing into the turf.
After that one, Gailey warned the team that anyone who drew a demonstration penalty would be benched.
“If I say that, I’m going to do it,” Gailey said. “So he was out.”
Gailey said he didn’t know why Johnson was penalized this time and not against the Bengals last year.
But it didn’t matter, because he had been clear with his warning.
“I got tired of it the first time it happened,” Gailey said. “But you hope people learn from situations. There isn’t anybody who hasn’t made mistakes, but you’ve got to learn from your mistakes. And everybody falls in that category — me too.
“He is not a bad guy; he’s not. He’s a good guy, but he uses some bad judgment at times and if you do that enough and it hurts the team, you’ve got to do something.”

T.O pays Up

Terrell Owens is no longer a wanted man ... because he's anted up on his back child support payment ... TMZ has learned.

As we first reported, a California judge issued an arrest warrant last week after T.O. was a no-show at a child support hearing. T.O. -- who was behind child support -- had been trying to reduce his payments, claiming he just doesn't make the big bucks anymore.

The lawyer for Monique Reynolds, the baby's mother, tells TMZ, "Terrell Owens has today paid his child support obligation to Monique Reynolds, and Ms. Reynolds has requested that the Court dismiss her contempt motion and recall the associated warrant that was issued."

We're told the arrest warrant will be recalled today. As for reducing T.O.'s child support payments, that hearing is pending.

NFL Needs to Come Back : 20 NFL Players Arrested In 120 Days Since Lockout Began

Back in May Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis predicted crime would rise if the NFL lockout didn't end soon.

A lot of people laughed off what Lewis had to say as hype from a player wanting the lockout to end soon, but his words are starting to look prophetic.

“Do this research if we don't have a season," he told ESPN. "Watch how much evil, which we call crime, watch how much crime picks up, if you take away our game,"

The Sporting News just published the names of 19 (now 20) NFL players who have been arrested in the 120 days since the owners locked the players out, as they try to hammer out a new collective bargaining agreement.

During the lockout there can't be any contact between the the teams and players. And while no games have been missed yet some players obviously need more structure, even in the off season. Normally teams would have had organized team activities by now. Also players would have been allowed to rehab injuries and workout at team facilities. With those options unavailable players have been left on their own, and some have made bad decisions.

There is some good news on the horizon. The owners and players appear closer than ever to ending the longest ever work stoppage in league history.

The two sides will continue to negotiate a new CBA this week.

Check out the list of NFL players who have been arrested since the lockout began on March 12.
